Pool Party

Roan, Mia, Taj

As per usual, Taj leaves these two to play alone.
Roan: Hey Mia, check out my blue cup.

Roan: Uh, wait. I think I need it back.

Roan: Or not. This red cup rocks.

Roan: I have the superior cup.
Mia: He gave me a cup with holes in the bottom.

Table Manners

Mostly, we dine alone. Table manners aren't a big priority, taking a back seat to things like actually getting food into your mouth, instead of, say, on your eyebrow.

But sometimes I get a little Emily Post on the Bot. I like him to express his appreciation for my culinary efforts. Because that orange? I peeled it myself, section by section, removed the casing with my fingernails so he could have the juicy sweet part without the bitter white part. Like a box of Lucky Charms with only the charms, or Captain Crunch with only the crunch-berries - the stuff of my childhood dreams.

Here you see the Bot has a lunch date with Mia and Taj. It's a high stakes lunch with the twins going commando style, without their bibs. We (adults) were looking forward to the possibility of a food fight, but other than the Robot's personal battle with the zucchini, everyone was well behaved.

Halloween

Mia and Taj came over on Halloween, which is also their 1st birthday (happy birthday twins!) You can see they are seasonally dressed, and all three babies are playing very nicely together. Sure, Taj is eating Roan's hammer, but that's actually highly civilized if you consider the full spectrum of typical baby behavior.

Mia and Roan have always had this connection. They seem to have a lot in common.
We always find them playing together, while Taj is otherwise occupied.
This is an amazing moment - all three babies are focused on the same toy, yet are not fighting over it.

Then, the twins put their costumes on. Taj is a monkey and Mia is a kitten. All hints of civil behavior are gone. They turn into wild animals.

And the Robot, well, turns into a Robot. He becomes singleminded in a way that only robots are. His mission is to eat an entire hot dog bun. He does it without distraction.

The rear view. Not pictured: a lateral powder compact.

Group photo #1. Taj looks like he's escaped from the set of Where the Wild Things Are. Robot remains focused on his hot dog bun mission. Mia gives a thumbs up?

Group photo #2. Robot is malfunctioning. Mia considers a cat nap. Taj, as usual, is unaffected.
The babies didn't last long in their costumes - 10 minutes tops. Cheap thrills.

Second Play "Date"

Roan: This is a great movie.

Mia: Why haven't you called me?

Roan: I tried to call you, like, a hundred times, but here's the thing:  I think my parents gave me a fake cell phone.

Mia:  Oh really.  You expect me to believe that?

Roan:  I'm serious.  I can't get any numbers to work.  I've been trying to order a pizza for weeks.

Mia:  Whatever.  Let's just watch the movie.

Roan: Okay.  I'm not lying about the cell phone though, I'm sure it's a decoy...

Mia: I don't want to hear your excuses.  Turn up the volume.

Roan: Well, that's the other thing. I think my parents gave me a fake remote.

Play "Date"

Roan: "I thought this was a date. What's your brother doing here?"

Mia: "Don't worry about him, he's totally not paying attention."

Roan: "I don't know about this... your brother's really big. And I think he just found out about us."

Mia: "Ha ha ha ha ha! I love being the girl."

Roan: "On the other hand, he can't crawl yet. Wanna lean on me?

Taj: "I'm gonna strangle that guy!"
Mia: "My brother can't stop us now..."
Roan: "We should kiss again."

Mia: "I'm not so sure."
